About the instructor

Brenda Haws

Brenda Haws is a Homeschool Group Guru! I bet you didn’t even know that was a thing! Well, it is and she is it! She and a friend started her first tiny little homeschool group of 4 families in 1999 and then their first large group in 2000. As the owner and president of New Commonwealth Schools (NewCommonwealthSchools.com) Brenda works to create, develop and strengthen the growing number of Commonwealth Schools across the country. She has taught, trained, and mentored in the home-school arena for over 20 years and has formally coached homeschool groups since 2008. Her wisdom and insight into family and community education is sought repeatedly by others and she regularly presents to groups large and small about her vision and passion for enduring educational ideals and principles. Brenda uses her coaching to empower parents as they teach and lead. She loves witnessing the changes that happen, not just in the students, but in the parents as they learn and grow through this homeschooling journey. Married to Travis Haws for 34 years, she is the mother of 6 children, grandmother to five, and currently resides in St. George, Utah.
